About Us
Accreditation
Student Health & Wellness Center (SHWC) has been accredited by AAAHC since March 2011. Accreditation is a voluntary process through which the quality of our services and performance is measured against nationally recognized standards. The accreditation process involves a self-assessment by the organization followed by a thorough on-site review by an AAAHC expert surveyor. For more information on AAAHC, please visit their website.
What does accreditation mean for you? By going to an accredited health clinic, you get an assurance that the quality of care and services you're going to receive meet the strictest standards. Accreditation surveyors review all of our care, policies, processes, and facilities and provide feedback to ensure that we provide you with the highest quality of care.
A Commitment to Quality
SHWC is committed to providing high quality services that are confidential, cost-effective,
sensitive to the needs of college students, and convenient. We continue to challenge
ourselves to exceed high standards of excellence through quality improvement programs
in all departments, continuing education for staff, annual performance evaluations,
patient feedback/surveys, and working with campus and community partners.
Patient Satisfaction
SHWC encourages patients to provide feedback about the quality of care and services.
Our quality assurance team reviews your suggestions and concerns and tires to resolve
them in a timely manner.
Communication
Translation services are available for non-native English speakers.
To submit a suggestion or concern:
Contact SHWC through our feedback form
Place comments/suggestions in the on-site suggestion box located in the SHWC clinic
lobby.
Patient Privacy
SHWC assures that all health care providers, clinical support staff, administrative
staff and student employees working in the student health clinic adhere to established
ethical principles and codes of professional practice including patient confidentiality,
privacy, dignity, and informed consent. As a patient of SHWC, you also have certain Rights and Responsibilities. We encourage you to review these and be sure to ask questions if you have any concerns.
Funding / Health Fee
The Health Fee, paid as part of tuition, provides funding for services at SHWC, the
Counseling Center, and Center for Student Well-Being. For that reason, charges for
services at Student Health are minimal. SHWC bills insurance, but students pay no
co-pays or deductibles. If you are uninsured, there are no office visit fees for general
medical appointments. Procedures, special appointments, labs, medication, and medical
supplies may have associated fees. Student Health sends most lab work to a reference
lab, which will bill you separately. See fee schedule for potential charges.
