Responsibilities of  Board Members

Members of the UCB play an integral role in educating students about the importance of promoting community, civility, and ethics within the ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓƵcommunity. Members foster and promote these ideals by upholding community standards, implementing the Student Code of Conduct, and understanding the rights and responsibilities of members of the University.

As a Member of the UCB, there is an individual understanding that the purpose of the Board is to be educative in redirecting behavior, increasing student awareness of behavioral expectations, and protecting the rights of the student by providing a process that is fundamentally fair.

The responsibilities of members of the UCB are as follows:

  • Uphold the University's community standards as defined in the Student Code of Conduct,
  • Honor the privacy of information disclosed,
  • Share in the task of challenging and supporting students to be accountable for their behavior and decision making as it relates to their membership within the University community,
  • Set aside personal and/or organizational perspective in order to establish accountability and maintain community standards,
  • Attend mandatory monthly training and professional development.

Time Commitment and Expectations

The time committment will vary through out the year and is based on your own schedule.

Student Conduct and Ethical Development schedules the majority of hearings between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm on weekdays. However, some hearings may extend beyond those hours. Members will submit their availability as hearings are scheduled.

Continuing educational sessions (Lunch and Learn Training Series) will be offered throughout the course of each academic semester, and all members are required to be in attendance for at least three of these one-hour sessions.
