Fall 2022 IEP Workshop Series
One of the challenges of inclusive and equitable pedagogy is determining what that might look like practically in the classroom. The Fall 2022 IEP Workshop Series, facilitated by CITL and the Office of DEI, featured ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓƵfaculty who have revised a course to be more inclusive and equitable.
Creating an Inclusive Community Online
Oct. 10th, 11:00am-12:15pm
The first IEP Workshop, facilitated by Dr. Anastasia Khawaja and Dr. Vanessa Reyes,
will focus on creating an inclusive community in an online class.
Building Community and Flexible Assignments
Oct. 26th, 12:30pm-1:45pm
The second IEP Workshop, facilitated by Dr. Kathleen Scott and Dr. Doreen MacAulay,
will provide first-day-of-class strategies towards community building and assignment
flexibility.
Diversifying Content and Facilitating Conversations
Nov. 7th, 11:00am-12:15pm
The final IEP Workshop, facilitated by Dr. Rebecca Johns and Dr. David Robertson,
will focus on diversifying course content and facilitating potentially charged conversations.
Spring 2022 IEP Workshop Series
The Spring 2022 IEP Workshop Series focuses on the TRUTH Framework, developed by Dr. Denise Davis-Cotton. Each of the five levels – Teach, Reach, Unite, Transform and Heal - represents an intentional growth progression from self-inquiry to collaborative interactions.
The framework supports a culture in higher education that: recognizes identities of self and others; identifies strategies that benefit students of varying abilities and perspectives; creates new and meaningful relationships; and supports an inclusive and equitable education that empowers differences and fosters a sense of belonging.
Each workshop will explore a specific level of the TRUTH Framework and implications for integrating into diverse learning environments. Workshops will be discussion based, giving participants the opportunity to engage with how these ideas inform their own pedagogical practices. Participants will leave with a one-page practical application guide to help them apply these topics in their courses.
