Teaching and Learning with AI: Fostering Meaningful Discussions
9:30 - 10:30 am
The Spring '25 Teaching and Learning with AI series will bring you together with latest
developments in generative AI tools, faculty experiences in leveraging tools to promote
learning, and emerging practices to consider in your own learning spaces. The March
session will ask: Given the availability of generative AI, are you looking for different
ways to foster student discussions? Together we will review some issues posed using
discussion boards for formative assessments and a way forward that more faithfully
assesses student engagement!
Teaching Students How to Learn with Metacognition
9:30 - 10:30 am
We often hear our students say that they spent hours studying but still felt unprepared
for an exam, or that they understood the concept in class, but struggled to make sense
of it on their own. What can we do? In this session, we'll explore how incorporating
metacognitive skills into your teaching can help students develop their confidence
as learners.
