Processing Instructions

To avoid signature/approval delays, please submit the following for all new tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty:

  • Offer Letter
  • Job Posting
  • CV
  • Three (3) reference checks pursuant to .
    • The may be utilized for the candidate's immediate supervisor.
    • The may be utilized for reference checks. 

Regarding Reference Checks: Written letters of reference may be considered as part of the overall employment reference check. However, the Hiring Manager is responsible for ensuring that the candidate's most recent supervisor is contacted directly and provides a satisfactory reference for the candidate as part of the reference check process. 

It is acceptable to wait to obtain a reference from the candidate's current employer until after an offer of employment is made, but the offer letter must state that the offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the reference check.

*Important for Hiring with Tenure: carefully review 'Tenure Upon Initial Appointment' within the Tenure and Promotion Guidelines for review and approval procedures as well as additional materials that you will need to include in the offer letter package.
