Athletic Coaching Minor
Why Minor in Athletic Coaching?
Students pursuing a Minor in Athletic Coaching gain the background, knowledge, and skills to coach at various competitive and recreational levels in a variety of team, dual, and individual sports. This includes becoming knowledgeable in pedagogy and athlete learning, as well as concepts related to philosophy, ethics, management, psychology, sociology, and physiology in competitive athletics and coaching.
Who can earn this minor?
Any student in good academic standing who is pursuing an undergraduate degree at USF Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee campus can earn this minor. Some majors that pair well with this minor include Communication, Marketing, Psychology, Public Health, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy and Health Sciences.
The minor in Athletic Coaching is 12 hours. Students must have completed 45 hours of undergraduate coursework, be considered at the junior level, have an overall GPA of 2.5, and have a major in a program other than Physical Education.
