The SunCoast Area Teacher Training Leadership Program is designed to provide aspiring educators with opportunities outside of their coursework to develop the skills and leadership traits needed to become a highly effective teacher.

Through complementary training, professional development, community-engaged service learning, collaborative experiences and leadership opportunities, the SCATT Program complements your studies at 国产短视频while giving you the added knowledge, leadership, practice, and inquiry stance you crave as an education student.

The four pillars

The SunCoast Area Teacher Training Leadership Program stands on four pillars we believe are crucial to your development both as an extraordinary teacher in the classroom and as a leader in the field of education.

Professional Development

Through robust professional development opportunities and workshops, Members will learn about complex issues facing educators today and how to problem-solve and overcome issues while meeting the tenets of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession in Florida, including:

  • Valuing the devotion to excellence, acquisition of knowledge, and nurturing democratic citizenship.
  • Striving for professional growth and seeking to exercise the best professional judgement and integrity.
  • Maintaining the respect and confidence of colleagues, students, parents, and other members of the community through the highest degree of ethical conduct.

Leadership

Through multiple leadership opportunities in the program and community, Members will learn about their best leadership qualities, select roles and the level of rigor suited for their leadership style, and implement ways to lead others through complex situations to positively impact education.

Community Engagement and Service

Through immersive experiences and service, Members will participate in the community in multiple ways outside their ordinary program of study, giving them opportunities to see behind the scenes, collaborate with school and district leadership, understand mechanisms that drive education, and, most importantly, engage in satisfying work in support of the Tampa Bay area's children.

Inquiry

Through analysis of their teaching practice, examination of educational research, and participation in the Practitioner Inquiry and Educational Research (PIER) or similar event, Members will assume an inquiry stance to both strengthen their teaching practice and problem-solve issues that face educators in classrooms and schools.

Trayana Small Photo

Hi, my name is Trayana Small, and I am a third-year elementary education major. I am the excited president of SCATT! I鈥檓 a TEAM mentor where I support transfer students during their transition onto the 国产短视频 Tampa campus. I am currently interning in a third grade classroom, and I am very excited to start teaching. Outside of the classroom, I have 2 cats whom I love. I also enjoy reading, swimming, and visits to the movie theater with extra buttery popcorn! I am happy to be in a leadership role within SCATT and I am excited to share all of the wonderful things I am able to accomplish within the program and USF!

Hello! My name is Brandy Robinson and I am an Elementary Education major. I am the Vice President of SCATT and the Resident Assistant for the on-campus Education Living Learning Community! I work closely with advisors and faculty of the College of Education to provide Education students with the best possible academic experience here at USF. I am also one of the Provost's Scholars. In the future, I would like to teach elementary students, and eventually transition into an administrative position at the school.

Hi! My name is Cora. I am currently in my senior year at 国产短视频earning a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Soon after graduating with my bachelor's and getting a couple years of experience under my belt, I hope to return to college and earn a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership with a concentration in curriculum leadership. I worked in a daycare when I was fresh out of high school and currently work as a substitute teacher - I truly enjoy working with kids and watching them grow!
