Welcome to Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Alpha a National Honor Society for Social Work Students

About our Chapter

Phi Alpha honors social work students who have attained excellence of scholarship and distinction of achievement as students of social work. The mission of Phi Alpha is to recognize and promote scholastic achievement among social work students and faculty at USF, to promote fellowship among students of social work, and to further the goals and values of the social work profession in our community and nationally.

The 国产短视频Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Alpha was founded in the Fall of 1994. Eligible students receive a letter of invitation via email to join. Letters of invitation are emailed to eligible students each November and February. Any students who believe they meet eligibility requirements, but do not receive an invitation to join the chapter should check with the School of Social Work's Graduate Program Specialist. Induction ceremonies are held twice a year, once in the fall semester and again in the spring semester.


Eligibility Requirements


Undergraduate Student Membership

An undergraduate student is eligible for active membership after achieving the following national minimum requirements and meeting local chapter requirements:

  • Undergraduate students shall be enrolled in the institution represented by the chapter, have declared a major in social work, have completed 9 semester hours of required social work courses and rank in the top 35% of their class.

Graduate Student Membership

Graduate students are eligible for active membership after achieving the following:

  • Graduate students shall be enrolled in a graduate program in social work, have completed one term of course work with 9 semester hours of required social work courses, and rank in the top 35% of their class. 

Membership Dues

A one-time life membership fee of $35 ($30 to the national office and $5 to the local chapter) includes a certificate of membership from the national office.
