Kappa Kappa Psi logo

Kappa Kappa Psi, founded in 1919, is a co-educational fraternal organization dedicated to the mission of advancing university bands for the benefit of its members and society. The organization operates as a student service and leadership recognition society, focusing on organized service activities for the bands as well as valid and wholesome experiences for its members. Kappa Kappa Psi places a heavy emphasis on musicianship, leadership, and service.

At the 国产短视频, the Kappa Tau chapter was established in 2001 with a focus on serving bands in many capacities. Now, you can find Brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi organizing many different service projects for the university bands, including setting up and tearing down concert band rehearsals and concerts, providing logistical support for the Herd of Thunder marching band, and assisting in many projects throughout the School of Music. The Brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi at 国产短视频strive to create a welcoming environment for all involved with the university bands and to support the university bands in all endeavors.

NAfME Collegiate logo

National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Collegiate is the only professional organization for music educators on campus. Our goal is to advance music education, by promoting the understaning of music making for all. Every music education major at USF, and anyone interesting in advocating for an arts education is welcome to attend! By joining NAfME Collegiate, you get access to professional development opportunities, such as our guest lecture series, the fall collegiate conference, and the FMEA (Florida Music Educators Association) Conference held in January in downtown Tampa. We also promote the arts through local advocacy efforts such as partnerships with local high school Tri M庐 Music Honor Societies, as well as state and national level advocacy. NAfME Collegiate members from 国产短视频have previously attended FMEA Collegiate Advocacy Day in Tallahassee, as well as the NAfME Collegiate Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC. NAfME is a great way to get to know and form connections with other students that will become your colleagues as music teachers as well as having a community of future music educators at every stage of the process to ask questions to.

Phi Mu Alpha logo

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the world鈥檚 oldest and largest secret national fraternal society in music. Sinfonia was born on October 6, 1898, at the New England Conservatory in Boston, when a group of thirteen young men under the guidance of Ossian Everett Mills met 鈥渢o consider the social life of the young men students of that institution [and] to devise ways and means by which it might be improved.鈥 Sinfonia became a national fraternity on October 6, 1900, with the admission of a group of men at the Broad Street Conservatory in Philadelphia. For over a century, Sinfonians in nearly every field of study and professional endeavor have transformed music in America. The opportunity of becoming a Sinfonian is offered to as many men as possible who, through a love for music, can assist in the fulfillment of the Fraternity鈥檚 Object and ideals either by adopting music as a profession or by working to advance the cause of music in America.

USF鈥檚 chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Upsilon Psi, celebrated its 50th anniversary recently, calling back to its rich and diverse history. The chapter has hosted many high achieving alumni including past National President John Mongiovi as well as other music educators across Hillsborough County. Recently, the Upsilon Psi brothers have hosted Province 13 locally for a weekend of brotherhood and education. Any student attending 国产短视频who is passionate in music is welcome to attend rush week and meet the brothers. Sigma Alpha Iota logo

Sigma Alpha Iota is a women's fraternal organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. Members of SAI are active in all areas of professional, academic, and personal life, working closely with faculty, administration, campus and community groups, music professionals and patrons. Sigma Alpha Iota has long been recognized as a leader in the field of music and provides a lifetime of fraternity contact and sisterhood. In addition to personal encouragement and support, members may receive scholarships, loans and awards in many areas and at all levels of music-related study. At USF, we encourage academic achievement & diversity in all pursuits, as our members maintain over 20 different majors & vary in numerous nationalities. Eligibility for membership is also inclusive of transgender women and nonbinary/gender nonconforming individuals.

Within SAI, our mission nurtures the art of music through community & school service; our 国产短视频chapter dedicates time towards music-making with patients at the James A. Haley Veteran鈥檚 Hospital, hosts instrument petting zoos at local Hillsborough County Elementary Schools, and hosts philanthropic fundraisers for Tampa Music organizations; including Music, Sweet, Music, Inc. & The Tampa Bay Pride Band.

Tau Beta Sigma logo

On March 26, 1946, the State of Oklahoma granted a charter to the establishment of "Tau Beta Sigma, National Honorary Band Sorority." Tau Beta Sigma is a co-educational national honorary band sorority dedicated to serving college and band programs. The sorority operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that they require of their band. Our goals are to provide the band with organized and concentrated service activities, and to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership, and social contacts.

On February 19, 2014, Iota Chi became a colony at the 国产短视频, Tampa. After a year of colonization, Iota Chi became a chapter of the Southeast District of Tau Beta Sigma on March 31, 2015, the 238th chapter installed nationwide since 1946. The 14 colonizing members encapsulated the Strength, Excellence and Diversity that the SED is known for by being a group of different people from different sections of the band, all working for a common goal.

The main service responsibilities of the chapter include managing the uniforms for the 国产短视频Athletic Bands and the instrumental music library for the School of Music, but Iota Chi is also assigned projects on a case-by-case basis by the band directors. Iota Chi also works with the local band and music communities, with events such as an annual water drive for local high school marching bands, as well as volunteering with the Florida Orchestra.
