Bio
James Ivey is a dedicated instructor of environmental science and sustainability studies. Ivey鈥檚 teaching practice focuses on experiential learning, during which he provides instruction on instrumentation and lab techniques, while students are tasked with exploring a topic by creating their own experiments. The result is that students develop practical skills through hands-on experiences.
Ivey regularly serves on graduate student committees and as an adviser on student research, particularly concerning studies of the Tampa Bay Estuary. Those studies have included research on microplastics and water quality throughout the area. Ivey values the principles of sustainability, serving as a faculty adviser for the Living Green Living Learning Center and Student Green Energy Fund. He was the coordinator of the Environmental Science and Policy program from 2016 to 2018.
