Medical Emergency

A medical emergency is an injury or illness that is acute and poses an immediate risk to a person's life or long term health.

In the event of a medical emergency:

  • Call 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
  • Refrain from touching or moving the patient unless he or she is at threat for further injury.
  • Perform CPR or First Aid immediately if it is required, and you are certified to do so.
  • Try to keep the patient awake and comfortable until the ambulance arrives.
  • If the patient is suspected to have alcohol poisoning, try to keep them awake and on their side.

CPR and AED classes are available through the Tampa campus Rec Center.

国产短视频students may seek non-urgent medical assistance at any Student Health & Wellness Center (SHWC) location, regardless of campus location. On the Tampa campus SHWC is located east of the Marshall Student Center and north of the Student Services Building (SVC). On the St. Petersburg campus SHWC is located in the Wellness Center and on the Sarasota-Manatee campus SHS is located in SMD 105. Most routine care is covered by your health fee, and other services are provided at a savings of approximately 30-80%. SHWC is closed on weekends. After hours telephone consultation (813-974-2331) with a physician is available for urgent medical concerns.

For the Tampa campus, faculty and staff can seek medical assistance at Florida Hospital, located at the corner of Fletcher Ave. and Bruce B. Downs Blvd.
