Miranda Mattingly, the newly appointed associate director of the Research Development Institute, will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop proactive, catalytic funding portfolios and research ecosystems that pave the way for high-impact research capable of transformative solutions to critical societal and global challenges. She joined the Research Development Institute in June after previously serving as the Assistant Director of Foundation Relations at the ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓƵFoundation, where she helped faculty translate ideas into competitively funded projects through private foundation support.
In her new role, Mattingly aims to cultivate a thriving community of practice around research development and raise the visibility of the ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓƵresearch enterprise by removing barriers to research, innovation, entrepreneurship and community-engaged partnerships. In close collaboration with faculty, she will spearhead cross-disciplinary think tanks designed to converge thought leaders; amplify research competitiveness, capacity, and impact; and build sustainable research ecosystems across academic, government, industry, and philanthropic sectors.
Mattingly holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Missouri and has over two decades of experience in higher education; academic, technical, and grant writing; research and faculty development; and project management.
