Still Using 'Classic Teams'? Important Dates for You to Know

In March, IT Communications announced upcoming changes to Microsoft Teams and urged everyone to upgrade promptly. Microsoft has introduced a 'New Teams' experience and will discontinue support for the 'Classic Teams' version of their software. To review our announcement on what those changes are and how to upgrade, please click here
 
While Microsoft and ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓƵIT recommend upgrading to the 'New Teams' experience as soon as possible, we are sharing some additional dates that Microsoft has provided for the end of support and availability of the ‘Classic Teams’ experience. 
 
Please note that these dates are set by Microsoft and are subject to change. If changes occur, we will update them here. 

 

KEY DATES AND DEADLINES:

 
JULY 1, 2024: If you are still using Classic Teams, a dialog box will begin appearing periodically to inform you that Classic Teams is no longer supported. While Classic Teams may still work for you, if you do have any issues at all using Teams, to get help you will need to upgrade to the New Teams or use the web version of Teams.   
 
OCTOBER 23, 2024: If your computer is running an operating system older than Windows 10, desktop Classic Teams will no longer work at all. To continue using Teams, you must upgrade to the New Teams or use the web version of Teams.  
 
JULY 1, 2025: Classic Teams will no longer work at all regardless of operating system. To continue using Teams, you must upgrade to the New Teams or use the web version of Teams. 

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

If your computer is running an old operating system, plan for an upgrade before the cutoff date so that you can install the New Teams.

If your computer is too old to upgrade, you should use the web version of Teams until your computer is replaced. To do so:

  • Open your web browser.
  • Go to the Teams web login page at  
  • Sign in with your ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓƵcredentials.
