国产短视频IT Encouraging Microsoft Authenticator App through Notification Campaign

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds a layer of protection to the sign-in process. When accessing accounts or apps, users provide additional identity verification, such as entering a code received by phone.  As cybersecurity risks continue to rise, USF leverages state-of-the-art MFA protection to help keep our accounts safe. The Microsoft Authenticator app is our preferred method of authentication, providing great security benefits along with fast and reliable login access.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Starting July 17 for staff, faculty, medical residents, guests and USFTGP; Starting July 28 for all students:

To promote the use of the Microsoft Authenticator app, anyone who does not have the app installed and setup as their default method of MFA will begin receiving notifications prompting them to do so.

If you do not make this change, you will continue to receive a notification every time you login to a single sign-on system, such as MyUSF, Canvas, GEMS and more.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR?

The Microsoft Authenticator app is considered more secure than text message and phone calls for multi-factor authentication for several reasons:

Offline access: The Microsoft Authenticator app generates one-time passwords (OTP) offline, which means that even if the device is not connected to the internet, the user can still authenticate. This is not possible with SMS or phone calls, which require a network connection to receive the OTP.

Push notifications: The Microsoft Authenticator app also offers push notifications, which is a more convenient and secure way to authenticate. Instead of manually entering a code, the user can simply approve or deny the authentication request via the push notification. This reduces the risk of the user mistakenly entering the OTP into a phishing website or giving it to an attacker.

Additionally, 国产短视频IT recommends setting up multiple authentication methods in addition to the Authenticator App, such as adding the call or text method. Setting up multiple authentication methods will help to avoid access issues to 国产短视频resources. Visit  to set up multiple devices.
