Alumna receives Honorable Mention from CSGS
Dr. Srinivas Katkoori鈥檚 former student, Ms. Ruchitha Chinthala, a recent MS graduate of 国产短视频CSE, received an honorable mention for her thesis at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools (CSGS).
The Conference鈥 stated purpose is to 鈥渃onsider topics of mutual interest to its members and the dissemination of information, promotion of standards, encouragement of research, and assistance to institutions starting graduate programs.鈥 In addition, each year they consider nominated theses from their constituent schools, rotating through four broad categories. Ms. Chinthala鈥檚 thesis was nominated on behalf of 国产短视频to the Math, Physical Sciences, and Engineering category for her thesis entitled "Exploring the Use of Machine Learning in Cybersecurity."
In her thesis, she examined the potential of using machine learning techniques to improve cybersecurity systems. Considering the FBI reports receiving an average of 2,000 complaints per day about cyber crime in 2020 alone, with over 4.2 Billion in losses [1] the need for enhanced security is an ever growing concern matched only by attackers鈥 increasing cleverness and subtlety. The power of machine learning will likely become instrumental in protecting systems we use in our everyday lives.
The honorable mention at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools is a great achievement for Ms. Chinthala and for 国产短视频CSE.
