鈥淪ome of the big challenges that we face, both societal and scientific, are just not solvable by people sitting in their single-discipline silos 鈥 bringing those disciplines together in the long term is what provides the big, big breakthroughs.鈥濃 Kedar Pandya, EPSRC
In today鈥檚 business world, for the first time ever, up to five generations, rising numbers of women, and an unprecedented number of diverse employees work together in an increasingly volatile, fast-paced, and uncertain economy. Challenges in the workplace are bound to arise, including the potential for generational gaps and workplace discrimination based on gender or race. So, how can companies overcome these complicated issues to help all employees thrive in the modern workplace? How can organizations support older workers, women and minorities to and How can employees reframe their challenges and utilize them as their competitive advantage?
Dr Nagy鈥檚 scholarly work aims to answer these questions and create a more sustainable and ethical approach to leadership, management, and career development by discovering and disseminating new ideas about organizational flourishing and what managers and employees can do about it. To provide solutions, she utilizes multi-level and cross-level theorizing to understand the idea of a positive new normal from a holistic perspective. Therefore, Dr Nagy鈥檚 research is inherently interdisciplinary and applies a global frame of reference. She generally aims to utilize and synthesize knowledge and methods from a wide array of fields (i.e., I/O psychology, behavioral economics, OB/HR), while making sure to communicate research findings in a way that is accessible to a broad audience and relevant for private industry, policy, and academia.
The novelty, importance and quality of Dr Nagy鈥檚 research program is corroborated by the fact that she was able to secure substantial external research funding (over $150鈥000), received the career fellowship for promising young researchers from the Swiss National Science Foundation, as well as a nomination as best paper based on a dissertation and best paper of the Careers Division by the Academy of Management.
Dr. Nagy received her PhD in work and organizational psychology and her CAS in university teaching from the University of Bern, Switzerland, her MSc in social and economic psychology from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in organizational behavior, leadership development, personnel assessment, career development, and statistics and research methods.
Dr. Nagy has published in various international peer-reviewed journals, including the Human Relations, MIT Sloan Business Review, the Journal of Career Assessment, and the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology. She has presented her research at numerous international conferences, such as the Academy of Management Conference and the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology Conference.
