Cristina Gonzalez, LMHC, NCC, CRC, is an Adjunct Instructor in the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program at the 国产短视频. Cristina is currently a third-year doctoral student in Counseling and Counselor Education at the University of Florida.
She holds a master鈥檚 degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy and a graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the 国产短视频. She is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She is also a Qualified Supervisor for both Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy registered interns.
Cristina has clinical experience in residential mental health treatment for youth, family reunification work, and forensic evaluations. She worked for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida in Pinellas County for seven years, assisting with psychological and competency assessments of youth in delinquency and truancy court. She currently provides incapacitation evaluations and testimony for the Eighth Judicial Circuit in Gainesville.
Cristina has had a private practice since 2015 where she works with the gifted and talented of all ages. Her preferred modalities include narrative therapy and other postmodern approaches but she also utilizes tools from existential and cognitive therapy. Her research centers on mental health needs in the gifted population, the impact of the gifted identity, and the under-identification of minority gifted youth. She is currently planning a dissertation that will examine the experiences of gifted adults in therapy.
