Emmanuel Kaghondi joined the School of Music as an Assistant Visiting Professor in 2023. Here, he teaches courses in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Previously a Lecturer at Tumaini University Makumira in Tanzania, Kaghondi's role involved not only contributing to the development of the music program but also providing comprehensive instruction across a diverse array of subjects, including music education, African music & ensemble, music technology, compositional practices, and research.

Kaghondi holds a Ph.D. in Music Education (with minor areas in Ethnomusicology and Composition) from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Music and Human Learning (M.M.) from the University of Texas at Austin (with minor areas in Ethnomusicology and Music Technology), and a Bachelor of Arts in Music (B.A.) from Tumaini University Makumira in Tanzania (with emphasis on Music Education and Music Technology). His academic pursuits pivot around curriculum innovation, the seamless integration of technology, and engaging in cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary collaborations. In his scholarly explorations, Kaghondi delves into the intricate tapestry of music cultures and epistemologies within the Global South, effectively seeking to establish a meaningful curriculum link between academia and the community.

Beyond academia, Kaghondi has organized numerous church choral music clinics on both national and global scales, been commissioned to write original African music for Western instruments, and collaborates in initiatives with schools and local organizations, all of which serve as a conduit through which he shares African music and dances with a younger audience. Kaghondi eagerly anticipates leveraging his expertise to contribute to the implementation and advancement of the music innovation and entrepreneurship program at USF.
